  • Happy 1st Birthday Sophia!

We cant believe it! Our little girl is ONE!!

This is such a bittersweet moment for us both. Watching our little girl grow from a tiny newborn into a blossoming toddler, with a fierce sense of independence. It seems like just yesterday I was holding Sophia in my arms at the hospital in awe of her, and now we are watching her accomplish many things and grow SO fast! Sophia walks like a pro and is now running, she LOVES shoes and clothes and is just beginning to learn how to put them on. Her vocabulary is ever growing and she says HI to anyone she sees, it is the cutest thing ever! She loves to play with her cousins and any kids her age. She loves to play with blocks, dolls and has just started showing interest in Elmo. Sophia is very adventurous-climbing on everything, loves the giant slide and those big bounce houses! She is a crazy outgoing girl and we love her so!

A note to our beautiful daughter:

Baby, this year has been a soul stretching year for us. Your arrival to our hearts has brought us new joy, new love and this is just the beginning! Sophia Marie we love you so, and we cant wait to see what beautiful things are in store for your life and our family.

Happy Birthday, sunshine! Thank you for the most amazing year ever!

  • Sophia is walking!!! (plus some updates)

WOW! Its been along time since i posted on here! I will bring everyone up to speed on our hectic life..

    SOPHIA WALKED TODAY!!!!

She is such a fun little girl.. Some of her favorite things to do are: climb stairs, walk with push toys, play with Tupperware and go swimming. We recently enrolled her in swimming lessons to get her used to the water more and she just LOVES it now. Our last class is this Thursday, but we will probably be signing her up for more since she has so much fun. She now has 5 teeth, working on the 6th. Her bottom two teeth, top front two teeth and one tooth on the left of the top front tooth are in, she is working on the other top tooth to make it 4 on top-2 on bottom. She has been on the go for quite some time too, crawling-speed crawling, walking with push toys and climbing stairs. She sure keeps us busy. And as of today she is now walking, these past 10 1/2 months have gone so fast, we cant believe our little girl is now walking..I will be uploading some current pictures and hopefully i can get some video of her walking..

We also took Sophia to her first county fair. We went to the Carver county fair and Sophia went on her first merry go round ride and also one of those big giant slides.. Sophia was a bit sketchy of the merry-go-round, but she loved the big giant slide. She clapped at the top and put her hands in the air. Guess she is not afraid of heights like mom.

With Nate and I, we are just enjoying watching Sophia learn and grow. It is so fun to watch her play and interact/learn with her toys.. She has such a great personality and sense of humor. We are so blessed. Nate is on the mend from coming down with pneumonia 🙁 He is doing much better now. Thankfully Sophia and I didn’t get it. Nothing new with me, just working and trying to plan fun activities before the summer is out. State fair opens this weekend!
This is how Sophia LOVES to sit on everything now. She has to have her leg up resting on everything.. This is her in a target shopping cart, eating snacks
  • Getting SOO big..

Happy “late” Fathers Day! Sophia and daddy spent some quality time together in the morning before church and then after, Nate went golfing. Sophia is also become quite the crawler, she has speed crawling down even 🙂 She is also pulling herself to stand on everything and yesterday she stood all by herself, not holding onto anything. She gets into just about everything, but she is in such a fun stage right now that we both love it 🙂 She also tries to copy things you say, in baby talk of course but it is very adorable. She has mastered, “mama” “dada” and she says what sounds like “go” and puts her hands in the air. She is a chatter box. Her top 4 teeth are being very stubborn and have not quite broke the gums yet. Hopefully soon.

Being silly and playing- she is so goofy! <3

    Speed crawler…

We also took Sophia swimming for the first time on friday. I put the pool on our deck and filled it with warm water and set it in the sun while we waited for Sophia’s cousins James and Cole to come over. It turns out Sophia DID NOT like swimming. We think the water got to cold, even though it was in the sun. I think the wind made it cold. We will try again though. Here is a picture of Sophia in her cute swimsuit. You cant tell on her face, but she would cry if i even attempted to put her in the water..
One last picture, cause I think its so cute! Sophia LOVES Meeka so much-
    We <3 her so much!!

  • Its official, we have a crawler 🙂

Sophia started crawling! She is not a pro yet, but it is the cutest thing ever to see! She started crawling Sunday and she just moves her arms and legs a few times and then she sits. She just moves to get what she wants and stops! She is also pulling herself up on EVERYTHING to stand! Some big milestones over the memorial weekend holiday!

Sophia crawling-she is so happy being mobile!

    Standing so tall!

  • Up on all fours…

Sophia is going to be 7 months in 8 days! I cant believe it.. ( I say this every post ) but my how time flies! She is getting so big. Some new developments are that she is beginning to lunge forward when she is sitting to get on all fours. She will be crawling soon i have a feeling! She had also been sleeping in her own room, in her crib and she is doing a FANTASTIC job! Although the first few nights i was up all night checking on her! She is also teething again and is quite the fussy little girl! So, hopefully those teeth pop thru soon! 🙂 Nate and I are hoping to bring her to the Twins game soon, we will see how that goes.

She has her 8 month photo shoot with Angela on May 28th! Cant wait!

She played in a ball pit for the first time and was scared and hesitant at first, but then ended up having a blast! Here she is playing. 🙂

  • Easter and 6 month well child visit..

Sophia had her 6 month well child visit on Friday and she is growing perfectly! She currently weighs 16lbs and is 25 1/2 inches long! She is in the 50th percentile for her weight, height and her head circumference. The doctor said that she is ahead still on her milestones, and she even started scooting across the table while we were there! She sits up great and plays great and is starting to scoot! The doctor did say that she will be crawling before long and wouldn’t be surprised if she didn’t crawl for long if at all since she has great leg strength and that she has been sitting by herself for quite some time!

Sophie’s first Easter was also alot of fun! Getting to watch her discover things in her Easter basket was a blast! Nate and I didn’t get her an Easter basket this year cause my parents got her one and also Nate’s grandparents. Sophie had so much fun opening and discovering the gifts in the basket my parents got her! I have some fun pictures that I am adding! Sophie also did enjoy a fun toy that Nate’s grand parents got her. We also went to an Easter egg hunt with our church, unfortunately Sophie fell asleep during it! She was exhausted and had a little bit of a fever from her shots the day before. Overall it was a great weekend, that ended with having brunch with my family and my Grandma in Waconia.

Opening her Easter basket from Grandparents Julie and Jeff:

Easter at Grandparents Ruth & Dan, with Nana & Papa too

Coloring Easter eggs (pretending), no dye being used with Sophia.
My FAVORITE, Sophia in her Easter bonnet- snoozing away..
We also were able to take Sophia outside to play with her cousins for the first time, since the weather has been so nice. She wasnt to sure of the grass at first, but quickly was exploring and having fun.
The look before getting down to explore outside..
Sophia playing with her toys, and finding dirt!

  • 5 months old..

Sophia is 5 months old! She is growing so fast! She is doing very good with her rice cereal and we are looking forward to trying baby foods when she is 6 months-so this month! 🙂 Sophia loves to help clean up her bumbo tray after she is done eating, here are some pictures where she is helping.

Sophia has also been sleeping VERY good through the night, going to bed around 8pm and sleeping until 4-5am.. (knock on wood!) We love that she is sleeping so well at night. We are also in the process of transitioning her to her crib in her own room! Exciting for Sophia-nerve wracking for mom! Sophia is also doing VERY good at sitting on her own-and she loves it! She loves to look around and play with toys sitting up-when she is laying down she tries so hard to sit up, she has amazing ab muscles!

Sophia sitting up, like a pro!

We also think she is teething, as she is been fussy the past few days-more then normal, and EVERYTHING is going in her mouth and she has been quite the drooler for a few months. So excited to see her little teeth pop through! Sophia has also been laughing since the beginning of February-she has the BEST laugh ever, we love it. She loves to laugh at Meeka and mom and dad when they are being goofy! She also finds entertainment in her cousins. She has her 6 month appointment on April 2nd, and I will update more after that!

A few extra pictures of bath time and a favorite of ours when she is playing in her exersaucer. 🙂

    Bath time..                                                    So happy!!

  • 4 month well child visit..

Sophia had her 4 month well child visit today, and she did great! I think she was showing off for the doctor 🙂 She talked the entire time we were there and even showed off how she can roll over! She weighs 13.8lbs and is 24 3/4 inches long. She grew exactly 2 inches since her last visit and gained almost 3lbs since her last visit! She is a growing girl! She is 40th percentile for her weight and height is 65th percentile.  It seems almost overnight she went from wearing 3 month clothes, to now those don’t fit and she is in 6 month clothes! The doctor mentioned how GREAT her gross motor skills were and she thinks that Sophia will be an early walker! YAY! Sophia can sit up (tripod like) and has great head and neck muscle strength. Sophia can talk up a storm too, and even talks back to us when we talk to her! She recognizes her name and recognizes mommy and daddy very well! I cant believe how much she has grown, and we cant wait to see her milestones the older she gets! She is so precious and such a blessing in our lives!

I think this picture is priceless! Sophia fell asleep playing, 🙂
