Sophia has arrived!!

Our little angel is here! Sophia Marie Kindom. Born 09.27.09 at 1:45am. She weighed 8lbs 1oz, 21in long. She is so precious and more then we could ever ask for! Nate and I feel very blessed!

Here is my birth story:
It all started at 530am on Saturday 09.26.09 (my official due date). I woke up after having contractions in the middle of the night and had some bloody show. I didn’t know what this was and because of the contractions, we decided to go to hospital. We got to the hospital at about 630am and they monitored Sophia and my contractions. I was dilated to a 3cm and 80% effaced, some progress from my doctors visit the day before. At about 830am they sent us home since we were only in early labor. Once we got home the contractions started to pick but were not regular. I did everything i could to relax and rest. At 221pm my contractions were regular every 9 min. I decided to take a shower and a bath to see if things could speed up. My contractions then starting coming between every 3-6min. I laid down again and the contractions stayed coming regular every 6-9 min getting stronger in intensity and lasting a min long each. At about 8pm we decided to go drop off Meeka at my parents and head back to the hospital because the pain was getting worse and worse. Well on the way to the hospital my contractions starting coming every 3-5min for the hour it took, so it was a good decision we went in. When we got back to the hospital they monitored Sophia and my contractions again. I was now 4cm dilated and 100% effaced, so I was admitted. Once we got settled in our room the nurses suggested walking for 20 min, so Nate and I did. Once we got back to the room I asked for the epidural cause the pain was so intense. The anesthesiologist came and gave me the epidural and then the nurse checked me and I was at 7cm dilated! What progress! Shortly there after I went to an 8 1/2 cm, then 9 3/4 and then a 10! This was in a matter of 30-45 min! They did end up having to turn the epidural off because i was numb up to my shoulder blade and that was too high for them. At this point I felt the need to start pushing but the nurse said to wait and let her head drop some more, boy was that difficult! The epidural wore off and I could feel everything but the contractions and they gave me two options, to start pushing or get more epidural and be in labor for 2-3 more hours. I decided to start pushing. 50 min later our beautiful daughter was here!
